Oliver's Uncle Jon picked up this hat at the Folklife festival in Seattle. I'm enjoying watching Oliver grow up. He's discovering more about the world around him. It's pretty amazing to see him gain independence in the smallest ways, all while still needing barriers, reassurance and the familiar. I'm hoping to approach parenthood in a way that asserts O's independence and sense of self. That being said, I'm am not above a cute and fuzzy hat.

So it's come to this...
I'm overdue... 8 whole days overdue. A day has never seemed so long until you are 41 weeks pregnant, not working and sitting around waiting for a baby to decide it's ready. My mom's been here almost two weeks and Jeremy and I have been off work for over a week. We're quickly running out of things to do to keep ourselves entertained. Errands have been run, lasagnas have been made and frozen, bags have been packed and repacked. Also, for the first time ever, there may be a negligible amount of dog hair on the floor.
We've been tourists in our own town having some really nice trips to Northwest Trek to see the animals and to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. We've walked miles and miles and miles, up and down hills. I've eaten pineapple, eggplant, and black licorice (luckily not together) all supposed to be labor inducing food. We've done the other natural things you are supposed to do to get labor started...and still nothing.
So this morning, after being over a week late we decided it was time for me to face my destiny. My mom decided it was time for me to learn to crochet. Now for those who know me, I'm not exactly skilled in the black arts (aka crafts). Good friend Jenn tried to teach me to knit and declared me a lost cause. So this morning while watching hours of football I think I've actually mastered one type of stitch and I've got a half done potholder to show for it. I'm surprised because it's actually relaxing - or perhaps it's just something different to obsess about besides the late arrival of my offspring.
We do have a date set to induce which will be late Friday/early Saturday of this week. So that means labor should be starting in less than 6 days at the very latest which is music to my ears. If it's earlier than that I'm going to be the happiest gal in the world. Until then, I'll be working on my crafts.

Figures
8 days to go...and now they tell me: Light drinking 'no risk to baby'.
I am looking forward to having a breast milk producing Guinness in the next couple weeks.
