Prague in the house

Just found out that two of my favorite people from Prague are moving to Seattle - yeehaw. We may have grown out of that hanging out all night phase, but perhaps not.

Anyone out there need a dog? How about adopting Sassy's look alike/long lost sister. Her name is Susie. Ah, if only I had a yard.

All hail Chris Rock:

"If you're black, you gotta look at America a little bit different. You gotta look at America like the uncle who paid for you to go to college ... but molested you."

Bodies decomposing in the April heat

So the shit is hitting the fan in Iraq. It's nice that the American media conglomerates can give us the numbers of America casualties, but what about the others.

One great first person account of what's happening in Iraq can be found via the blog
Baghdad Burning.

"This is an occupation and for those of you naïve enough to actually believe Chalabi and the Bush administration when they said the troops were going to be 'greeted with flowers and candy' then I can only wish that God will, in the future, grant you wisdom."

What's your squirrel?

Do you ever feel like you get fixated on one thing? I sometimes I feel like Sass staring at squirrels. Like I can't see anything else, including lamp posts or people or curbs or bushes. Just completely fixated. Sometimes it's a certain band, or a certain song, sometimes it's the thought of traveling to a new place, sometimes it's thinking about how I need to revacuum the new couch (due to earlier mentioned squirrel chaser).

But other times, I just get fixated on an idea. Like in my work when I think I know the solution to a problem and I dream about implementing it, regardless of other people's points of view. Is it due to uncontrollable forces*. Whatever causes it, I feel like it's one of those things that needs to be kept in check.

Actually, at the moment I'm fixated on finding interesting guest speakers for my class this quarter. I'm trying to do a "Usability in the Real World" series. So if you have suggestions, send them my way.

So what do you get fixated on? What's your squirrel?
