The amazing film Grizzly Man opens this weekend here in Seattle and in several other cities. I saw this film back at SIFF this past Spring. It a haunting tale of the sad circumstances of one slightly unstable man (and his girlfriend who never appears in the film). Documentarian Werner Herzog narrates the film and is almost a character in his own right. It almost seems like Herzog feels an affinity for Treadwell.
When we were in Costa Rica, we met a young surfer from Kodiak Island who of course knew a lot of Treadwell. He told us how the locals thought he was crazy and got what he deserved.

Is it true that some of the footage is of his death? Did I hear that correctly, or am I on goofballs?

Werner Herzog! Of Duquesne University fame? I'm there. Gotta support those Dukes.
