Hi Fi

Offended? Too bad.

Poor Cheney offended by criticism from Amnesty International. What, are his feelings hurt?

Amnesty International's response was pretty right on:

"It doesn't matter whether he takes Amnesty International seriously. He doesn't take torture seriously; he doesn't take the Geneva Convention seriously; he doesn't take due process rights seriously; and he doesn't take international law seriously. And that is more important than whether he takes Amnesty International seriously."

Summer Adventure 05

Well last year it was Alaska and an amazing trip that'll be hard to top. This year we've been around the world with the list of contenders for this summer's July trip. First it was going to be Vietnam, but airfare was just too much for two soon to be grad students. Then we were going to drive down the coast to Mexico, so the Sass could come too, but after doing the research and thinking about the fact we only have one month it would mean more driving than vacationing, which doesn't sound like the most fun. Also, with the price of gas these days, it doesn't really make it a cheap trip. Then...the next idea was to fly to Mexico to explore Baja. But now...now the final, idea. I've got my tickets and everyhing.

We'll be jetting off to Costa Rica. It really is all about the water. Since it's the green season, we'll certainly get wet. But snorkeling and surfing are supposed to be extrodinary.

The people have spoken

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention. My client L&I won a
Webby People's Voice Award. Thanks to all who voted!

The gala is going to be in NYC on June 6. Now they just have to come up with the traditional five word acceptance speech. I proposed: "Labor and Industries: F*ck Yeah!" I'm not sure they are going to take their consultants adivce on that one though, probably a good thing though.

Mmmmm, metadata

Ah applying appropriate metadata, who knew it could be so hip and sexy. CNN has an article about people tagging their fliker photos.

"Tagging is something selfishly useful. It helps you understand and categorize something for yourself," Technorati founder David Sifry said. "But I can take advantage of the fact that you and hundreds and thousands of people have also tagged the things" for themselves.

But the down side:

Another drawback lacks an easy solution, though. Once tagging takes off, marketers are bound to add irrelevant tags to hijack you to the latest Viagra ad.
