Does anyone know anything about this?
Ok, I'm sort of at my wits end with the pet hair. Does anyone have any experience with the Roomba. They have one specicially for pets. It's $300 which is kind of pricey, but I'm thinking about asking Sass to get a part time job to pay for it (since it is her hair and all).
If anyone has one of these things or knows someone who does, I want the scoop. Does it work? Is it really worth $300? Will it make my life less hairy (at least in the dog hair sense)?

I have a vision of sassy chasing that thing around, barking like mad, and then trying to attack it like a frisbee.

Umm.... remember how sassy feels about the lawn mower? She will rip your 300 bucks to shreds. or whimper and hide behind your legs. :) ~Jenn

I assume you've checked out sites such as amazon.com and epinions.com for reviews.
iRobot was founded by a bunch of MIT people. That speaks well for their corporate ethos, but I don't know what it means for their product reliability, or how well it lives with pets.

Speaking as someone with 4 cats, and a growing collection of dead vacuum cleaners. I do not believe that any device is truly sturdy enough to survive pet hair, unless you are OCD when it comes to putting it to use. I've killed Eureka and Hoover bagless models, and bit the bullet on an Orek, which is definitely on it's last legs. The roomba is a nifty idea, but it just doesn't seem robust enough. If I was really crazy, I might throw down for a Dyson, but instead I've decided to admit defeat, and just transition to wood floors. Sometimes to win the fight you have to change the rules of engagement.

When you have a new baby you are up all night and one of the things you learn is that there is NOTHING on TV at 2AM, except the home shopping network - which last night profiled the Roomba and it was only $249.00 with free shipping and handling. I think you should get it and tell me if it works becuase I was so tempted to buy it. They even had people call in who have them and they raved about them. They were probably HSN employees paid to call in but it was compelling non the less. PLEASE be the test market for this!!

What about the Dyson 15 animal?
More expensive (at $560 from Amazon), but it looks like it's built for the job of keeping up with pet hair.

for $560 the dyson better should include a life like robot to push it around. i think what we're underestimating with the roomba is my laziness.

I keep checking back to see if you bought it - please buy the Roomba and let me know how it works so I can decide if I need a Roomba or a maid, if they made Roomba's that cleaned bananas off wood floor I would be all over that!!
